Clean the Lysol Soap Dispenser Sensor to Fix the Blinking Light

The leading cause of problems with the Lysol No Touch Soap Dispenser is a buildup of soap on the motion sensor. When affected, the soap dispenser's red light will blink continuously and soap will not be dispensed. It is easy to fix!

If the Lysol No Touch soap dispenser red light will not stop blinking

the soap dispenser may simply need to be cleaned. The slideshow below shows how easy it is to fix your soap dispenser when it won't stop blinking. Be sure to read the text below each photo, and use the green buttons to control the slideshow.

Click thumbnail to view full-size
First, turn the automatic soap dispenser off and use the eject button to remove the soap container. The Lysol No Touch will stand steadily upside down for cleaning.

Simple Maintenance to Avoid the Red Blinking Light Problem

The problem can be avoided by holding your hands closer to the base of the dispenser, near the red part, to dispense soap. While the system will work with your hand immediately under the dispenser arm, you are more likely to accidentally get soap on the sensor.

Proper maintenance of the Lysol No Touch Hand Soap System should be performed at least once a month, simply turn it off and wipe off the underside of the dispenser arm as indicated above. During this time, check the batteries if you have a battery tester, and ensure that the refill is snapped firmly in place.

Ensure that the batteries are inserted correctly. The two batteries on the front side should be negative (flat) end up, and the two in back should be positive end up.

The device is not designed for rechargeable batteries. While they will work, you may notice the low battery light blinking though the batteries are not actually dying.

Check the Batteries

If there is no red light after turning on the Lysol No Touch

the most likely problem is dead or incorrectly-installed batteries. Check your batteries to ensure that they are the correct size, 1.5V AA, and that the batteries are installed according to the picture at the right. The Dettol No Touch Hand Wash System sold in Europe may have a different battery configuration.

If you have correctly installed fully-charged batteries, there may be some other defect. If you are handy, it is not difficult to open the dispenser to inspect the wiring. Otherwise, you should probably consider buying a new soap dispenser.

If the red light blinks occasionally but the dispenser still works

the soap dispenser may not work properly with the type of battery used. Rechargeable batteries discharge differently that alkaline batteries and can fool the dispenser's battery level sensor. When this happens, the red light will blink occasionally but the device will continue to work until the batteries are drained. The blinking is an annoyance but for most people it is worth avoiding the waste of normal batteries.

Identify Mechanical Failures

If the red light remains on until the Lysol soap dispenser is turned off

the motor is over-working itself. In this condition, the Lysol No Touch may dispense either more or less soap than normal, and may dispense several times before locking up. The most likely cause of the problem if you have always used genuine Lysol Healthy Touch refills is failure of the motor or the delicate plastic gears.

If you are using your own soap and experience this issue, choose a less concentrated soap or add water until the motor no longer seizes. Otherwise, if you have only used genuine Lysol Healthy Touch Soap and still experience this issue, you can probably get a replacement dispenser.

Barry 19 months ago

First, thanks for your wonderfully informative and helpful site for the Lysol dispenser! Super job.

Couple questions for you if I might.

The light on mine sticks 'on' after dispensing once (have been using a very watery mix of late so thought perhaps some has leaked inside causing an electrical issue but having dismantle issues I'll describe below.)

If I turn the unit off and back on again, it will dispense once and then again lock up with the light stuck on and must turn off and on again, works once but then sticks on again. (The sensor is clean so not an issue.)

Have removed all battery screws to dismantle but something seems to be catching inside on the battery compartment or wires(?) as I try to remove it. Compartment pulls out about an inch and then is 'hooked' on some bit can't see. Don't want to force or twist it unless necessary so thought would check first if you have any pointers.

Also, any chance you might post a photo or two showing where exactly you installed your sponge in the unit to help adjust soap output, or maybe bit of a description? Once I get it apart it may be obvious where it goes and appropriate size etc., but figured while I had your attention here already might as well ask the expert! ;-) Am hoping the sponge might also help with my extra watery mix.

Thanks a bunch!

PS: In case you were wondering, I've not removed the lid of the soap container to add my own soap, instead drilled a hole in the top and put soap in that way.

(Humble apologies for the extra long post!)

Barry,

I will likely add instructions to the article later, but here is the abbreviated form:

1. Remove the soap refill.

2. Hold the gray eject button all the way in and pop out the gray plastic insert. You can do this by hand, start on the dispenser arm.

3. Disconnect the soap tube and the sensor from their sockets in the dispenser arm. This is what was preventing you from removing the base first, good thing you didn't just yank it out!

4. Remove the 4 screws from the battery compartment.

5. Pull the white plastic body off the base, making sure that the sensor and soap tub do not get disconnected.

It sounds like you might have soap buildup in the reservoir or soap tube that is causing the pump to overwork itself. Once you get everything disassembled you will be able to remove 2 screws to get into the soap reservoir - this is where the sponge has been placed. Once it is removed you can wash the soap dispenser system thoroughly, apart from the electronics. If you need to dig deeper you can remove the 3 screws from the bottom and open up the pump and gears but I don't recommend that unless you notice a lot of spilled soap and cleaning doesn't help =)

Barry 19 months ago

Wow, such service! And FAST too! Thanks very kindly for all the pointers.

Turns out I just wasn't pulling quite hard enough on the grey plastic liner but once I read your pointers again just gave it an extra tug and out it popped. Have managed to expose everything nicely

Will post back my results (hopefully successful!) and any other bits which might prove of assistance (should I stumble upon any) once all fully dismantled, cleaned, and reassembled.

Thanks again. All greatly appreciated.

Latest Update:

Disassembled all, even the 'gear box'. What I'd first thought might indeed be soap build up in gear box turned out to be a yellowish grease for the gears. (Unfortunately I'd removed much of it before realizing what it was - doesn't seem detrimental tho.)

Regardless, could find nothing wrong anywhere in the dispenser nor any clogs or soap buildups anywhere. Tested several different ways, still does the same thing, unit activates and dispenses, light locks on and unit must be turned off and back on again where it will again perform a single cycle before locking up again. (*One note here, when turn the unit off, it takes several seconds before the light finally slowly fades to off.)

Am going to try an new experiment using my 'extra watery soap mix' in a brand new dispenser unit and see if it ends up developing similar issue over time. (Have also tried a brand new Lysol soap cartridge in the 'broken' dispenser but it hasn't helped the problem.)

By the way, have determined that the dispenser is actually performing two cycles in one pass (spits out two batches of soap, one after the other) before locking up with the light stuck on, needing to be reset.

Will post back if discover anything of further interest.

fritteritter profile image

fritteritter Hub Author 19 months ago

Interesting, thank you for all the information and for your willingness to experiment. Another reader also noticed the problem with multiple strokes of the plunger before the device locks up. If I had to take another guess, I would say that if there is anything mechanical that stops the dispenser after one pump, like a plastic nub that triggers a switch, that may be broken. I don't know how likely it is that an electrical problem would develop in the dispenser, but that is also a possibility. Were you able to get the circuit board out, and can you tell if there are any visible shorts or even burnt areas on the board?

Barry 19 months ago

UPDATE #2:

Dispenser #1 the one I dismantled which was first acting up using my 'extra watery soap mix', after left sitting for a few days turned off (with a brand new 'official' Lysol soap cartridge in it) is now performing properly.

Turned it on after those few days turned off, triggered it to dispense couple or three times and it's now working properly (actually seems like it's working even better than first out of the box, and putting out a bit smaller and more suitable portion of soap).

The unit kinda sounded funny for those first couple cycles, like it was still running too long a cycle maybe or 'resetting' itself, but it now dispenses properly just like new (or better than?).

Unit now performs a regular dispense cycle, no extra long cycle, or light staying on issues. Working perfect.

= = =

Dispenser #2, the 'brand new' unit which I also put my 'extra watery mix' into to experiment to see if the watery mix would cause similar issues in Disp #2, is to date working fine with the watery mix with no apparent issues. (So maybe the watery mix wasn't the problem?)

Plan to try the watery mix back in Disp #1 and see if the original cycle problem returns, tho likely won't try it til present cartridge of Lysol soap runs out.

Pretty amazing little pieces of technology when you think of it, espec for a mere $10 (batteries included!).

fritteritter profile image

fritteritter Hub Author 19 months ago

Fascinating, thanks for the updates on your experiments Barry!

Barry 19 months ago

UPDATE #2-b

Oops!, spoke a day too soon.

Disp#2 now acting up w/watery mix (very similar but not precisely same as Disp#1 issues, this time cycle runs even longer than Disp#1 did, but light doesn't stick on and need to be reset at the end).

Plan bit more experimenting. Have completely sealed all holes in grey soap sleeve and added extra 'O' rings under soap 'nipple' to attempt to ensure no leakage into 'the works' below.

Will likely have to wait few days for Disp#2 to 'reset' itself for proper functioning like Disp#1 did before attempt this new experiment.

Will update results when have some!

I just bought this at Walmart over the weekend for 6.00 and it dispensed soap "1" time then the red light came on and won't go off and it won't dispense soap. I tried to email Lysol but when I hit submit it won't go through. I am going to try to call them. Anybody have any other ideas for the red light problem.

fritteritter profile image

fritteritter Hub Author 18 months ago

Dawn, that sounds like a mechanical defect. When the red light remains on, it means that the motor was either working too hard or had some other problem pumping the soap. It will remain "tripped" like that until you turn it off (must remain off for a few seconds), then turn it back on. Sometimes this "just happens" and sometimes it is a chronic problem where every time the dispenser locks up.

If you can't return it to Walmart as defective, Lysol will almost certainly send you coupons to cover the cost of a replacement, they are not too hard to reach on the phone.

Barry 17 months ago

FINAL UPDATE(?)

Okay, both units appear to be working fine again since sealing up all holes in the soap cartridge sleeve and using extra 'O' rings as previously mentioned.

And for those wondering what's the deal with the 'extra watery soap mix', I like to use Dr Bronner's liquid castile soap, but it's highly concentrated so you only need a very small amount of Dr Bronners (maybe 5 or 10 percent) mixed in the cartridge filled with water, hence the 'extra watery mix', and likely why it was leaking into the works below with the dispenser being designed to use much thicker soap. (Assuming of course this 'mix' is what was indeed causing my problems to begin with!)

Thanks again fritteritter for the great site and your kind assistance walking me through my initial repairs.

Keep up the great work!

john 16 months ago

my dispenser worked fine for about 2 months ,now when iturn the light off in the bathroom it disperse soap 2 or 3 times before it shuts off

fritteritter profile image

fritteritter Hub Author 16 months ago

John, have you tried the suggestions in the article for cleaning the soap dispenser and sensor? I'm not sure what could cause that...

mary 16 months ago

Mine does the exact same thing as the person above described, worked for the first few weeks, then the red light would come on and not dispense anything, changed the batteries, cleaned the sensor etc. as you described and it continues to malfunction. Turn off and then on and it works once, dispenses twice, and then doesn't work any more and the red light comes back on. Frustrating !

fritteritter profile image

fritteritter Hub Author 16 months ago

Mary, can you hear the sound the dispenser makes while dispensing soap? It sounds like the plunger is getting jammed, that light trips when the tiny motor inside the soap dispenser can't complete a full revolution. I noticed the same thing when I refilled it with soap that was too thick, it would dispense two or three times (audibly working harder each time), then finally it would stop and the light would come on.

I think that the only way to diagnose the problem is to take the dispenser apart and see if there are any obvious problems, like the gasket around the plunger coming off or soap buildup in the reservoir or tubing.

Certainly that may not be worth the effort, so the best course of action might be to call Lysol. Please let us know here if they can determine the problem or end up giving you a refund. They have very good customer support, you can reach them at 1-800-228-4722.

i just brought this product and when i turn it on no soap will come out but the red light will blink but no soap will come out what can i do to fix this problem i just brought it can you please tell me what can i do thank you.

fritteritter profile image

fritteritter Hub Author 15 months ago

Cynthia, either the device is broken (in which case you can likely return it to the store), or the soap refill needs some adjustment. Check to ensure that the sticker on the soap refill was removed and that the refill container is fully inserted into the dispenser until it clicks.

You may also try turning the refill canister upside down (so that the lid is facing up) and inserting a pen into the hole on the refill canister. There is a rubber stopper in there that you should be able to push down just a little bit. This stopper could possibly be stuck or there could be a pressure vacuum in the canister, preventing it from dispensing.

Let us know if anything works :)

Mark 15 months ago

Hi the only way I can get the light too blink is to pull the battery cover off then put it back on then it blinks six times but nothing happens after that cleaned sensor and changed batterys. But that did not help can you help thanks mark

fritteritter profile image

fritteritter Hub Author 15 months ago

Mark, was your soap dispenser working properly before it started malfunctioning, or was it in that condition when you bought it?

It could be an electrical problem, such as a broken connection on the sensor wires. If you want to check the wiring you can remove the refill, unscrew the screws in the bottom of the battery compartment, and then pop out the dark gray plastic lining.

Mark 15 months ago

Hi thanks for the quick response. I have had it for quite a while now about 6months. it just started to do that. had it all open yesterday could but couldn't see anything wrong with the dispencer.

I purchased two of the soap dispensers when they first came to Canada. The first one lasted about three months and then would no longer dispense. Check the batteries and then replaced the same batteries but it would still not work. I cleaned the dispenser but still no luck. I then started using dispenser number two. In short, the very same thing happened within a shorter period of time. I like the concept but am leary of trying again.

My soap dispenser keeps on dispensing when i turn it on. Any suggestions for what i can do to fix it?

fritteritter profile image

fritteritter Hub Author 13 months ago

guest, besides cleaning the IR receiver and reflector, I'm not sure what else to try. When you first turn it on, it verifies that the beam is unbroken (otherwise if the beam is blocked the device will keep blinking). After that, if it dispenses for no apparent reason it could be due to oversensitivity of that sensor. If cleaning doesn't help I would recommend calling Lysol to see if they will replace it.

Soigne 13 months ago

I am experiencing similar problems as Barry. First my soap dispensers started dispensing an excessive amount of soap then it just totally stopped working. I installed new batteries and the unit still did not work. The red light flashed a couple of times, but the unit still did not work. I cleaned the dispenser hole and the sensor and the unit still do not work. I bought new soap and the unit still did not work. I am unable to take the unit apart because I only have one hand. What do you suggest?

fritteritter profile image

fritteritter Hub Author 13 months ago

Soigne, my recommendation is to call Lysol at 1-800-228-4722 (USA) and explain the behavior of the soap dispenser to them. Since you clearly have a comprehensive understanding of the circumstances under which it does not work you should be able to explain the issue to them and ask for further advice or a replacement product. I believe that if they decide to replace the soap dispenser you will receive a set of coupons that can be used in any store to purchase a new Lysol soap dispenser.

I am having a similar problem to Soigne. Mine is dispensing excessive amounts of soap, but hasn't stopped working. After the multiple squirts come out, then the red light flashes three times. It does this with every activation of the sensor. I have checked the sensor and it is spotless. I replaced the batteries, no change. Replaced the soap, no change. I tried to follow instructions given earlier in these comments to dissamble it and check inside, but it seems that the design must have been changed because there is no way to get the gray insert out. Both myself and my husband have worked on it, first by hand and then with a small screwdriver to try to pry it out. It doesn't seem to be designed in such a way that it's removable anymore. So basically the only option now is to just buy a new one?? I'm not sure I want one if it's going to malfunction and need replacing every couple of months.

Bassomatic, I'll give you the same advice. My recommendation is to call Lysol at 1-800-228-4722 (USA) and explain the behavior of the soap dispenser to them. Let us know if they offer to replace it at no charge to you.

Craig 11 months ago

I just bought a no touch dispenser used up the first bottle of soap, bought a lysol refill bottle and not it dispenses way too much soap. I tried cleaning the senser with a Qtip but nothing has changed. Any ideas as to what the problem is?

fritteritter profile image

fritteritter Hub Author 11 months ago

That is strange, unless the consistency of the soap is very different it should dispense the same amount since the amount dispensed is a built-in mechanical feature. Can you hear the gears turning? With my soap dispenser each push of the plunger (which should happen once per dispensing) is easy to hear. Does it sound like it is pumping more than once?

There is some advice here for opening up the refill canister, you may at least be able to water down the soap a little so that it is not wasted. I found that replacing about 1/4 of the soap with water (of course saving the soap in another container for later) made a suitable mixture, but you may want to start with less water. http://hubpages.com/hub/DIY-Soap-Refill-Lysol-No-T

My soap dispenser puts soap on the counter every time we turn off the bathroom light ! I know it sounds crazy, but it dispenses every time I go to leave the bathroom and turn off the light. I can hear it dispensing onto the counter. HELP Please ! !

Sylvia 9 months ago

Did everything the internet said to try to get my dispenser to NOT dispense soap when the bathroom light is turned on or off. Had a terrible experience with the customer service person that I was instructed to call. Lysols CS rep was just reading a script. He was useless. I told him I had done all the things suggested and that I wanted my defective dispenser replaced. He told me NO !

Let me suggest to everyone who reads this: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. It is like throwing money down the drain as they will not replace a defective unit. I guess they like the dispenser to randomly dispense soap.... that way I have to buy more soap. This is CRAP and the service is worse. Don't put yourself through the hassle because there is no loyalty to the customer from Lysol.

After 2 months, mine started dispensing soap 3 three times in a row. Sometimes it would dispense on its own. Possibly the lighting conditions may be tripping the sensor as well. Once it dispenses (pumps three times), red light blinks 6 times afterward. Tried different concentrations of soap, cleaned the external sensor, and replaced the batteries (even though the originals were still good. Problem resides. Not a fan. Will revert back to a manual pump and refill with 75% cheaper soap refills.

Hi. I bought this for my office, as I've used them at my house for quite some time. It's been here for a few months and worked fine, but a few weeks ago, the red light started to blink. I figured I'd post here first to see if anybody could help me, before dismantling it. Thank you in advance.

Our Lysol hands free soap dispenser was acting up, turned out there was corrosion on one of the batteries. Cleaned it up, new batteries, and soap, now it is dispensing soap three times in a row. My soap dispenser will dispense soap after my hand has moved away from it. The light will blink 4 times and it will dispense soap 4 times. We have cleaned the sensor, changed the batteries and it still keeps going off on its own. What can I do to fix it and not buy a new one?

Derek 4 months ago

Apparently these units were released to soon, or the manufacturer made them too cheaply...

I bought a dual pack from Sam's Club and one of them started dosing 3 pumps per use. I took the batteries out to try and reset the thing, and now it puts out 4 pumps per hand wave...

Guess, I should have looked this one up before purchasing. At least one is still working (knock on wood)

My light keeps blinking too, even though I have brand new batteries, it blinks all the time, even when it's in the OFF position. Is there a special type of batteries that it takes? I have Duracell.

Joan, some batteries like "Duracell Ultra" or rechargeable NiMH have been known to cause problems, but standard alkaline batteries should be fine. Blinking in the OFF position sounds like the switch is broken.

No, the mechanics of the device are very simple and do not allow changing the amount dispensed. That is a feature available in other more expensive soap dispensers such as the Simple Human Compact Soap Dispenser: http://amzn.com/B005RR0R9U/?tag=disfrazao-20

You are the man!!! I have 8 of these dispensers and each had the problem of continuous dispensing. The only difference was I used a soft toothbrush to clean the sensor and nozzle and than ran warm water over it....perfect working order now.

I purchased your product and fully approve. The one that I am having problems with is the first one I bought. It has worked find until this time when I had to replace the cartridge of soap, each time I do it works great the first time dipense is great, but from then on it does not give out anything. I would greatly appreciate any assistance or the replacement of the dispenser. This is not going to stop me using the product, but would prefer one thata prefer one which works properly. Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide. Even a coupon to reduce to lower the price would be good.

Though I didn't scroll through all the comments, I do see at least one other person has my same issue: it works well for a while, but then the sensor starts to go off when lights go off. The first time this happened, I turned it off out of frustration and kept it off for a while till I tried it again. Worked fine for a few weeks, and now it's going off when not only the light in the bathroom goes off, but even one down the hall. Weird. Frustrating.

I cleaned the dispenser head per the above instructions. Put new batteries in. Put new Lysol soap bottle in. Light still blinks! What next!!! Very disappointed. More cheap China junk?

I've been able to fix mine in the past by cleaning the motion sensor and / or replacing the batteries. This time nothing I do will fix it after changing the batteries. I have to keep turning the power switch on and off. It might work 2 or 3 times then the light starts blinking again.

My dispenser won't stop running. I've removed battery's and cleaned sencor and nothing helps.

Dispensor puts out soap three times with each single activation. This is wastefull . Have cleaned and replaced batteries . Any other solutions ? Thank you

When I turn off the bathroom light, the soap dispenses and continues to dispense. Is there a way to avoid this? I have to turn it off every time.

Aline Chan 6 weeks ago

Your tips did not fix the problems. I tried to get a replacement on the link provided and it does not include Canadian provinces. I have one of your dispensers in each bathroom and two in my kitchen (bathroom and kitchen dispensers). I have replaced each at least once and just bought a competitors's dispenser that does not require pre-filled containers. I cleaned the sensors and not there is no light. I will be pitching it again.

The soap dispenser had no blinking red light, but it did not work. I replaced the batteries, changed the way they were placed, and read the instructions twice and it still didn't work. When I look in the bottle of soap, it seems that there is something blocking the way of the soap getting out. I would not recommend this product.

If you're going to buy an automatic soap dispenser, don't waste your time on one that doesn't let you select the amount to pour. Defeats the purpose if it's going to waste soap. We live in a world of enough excess to just add to it by wasting what others don't have. (Dial)

Hi, Folks!

I have a possible explanation (and solution) for those of you who are experience erratic dispensing and have tried cleaning the sensor with no improvement, or have the units dispensing when you turn off the bathroom lights.

First an explanation of exactly what's happening when the unit works correctly. The sensor is an IR (infrared) light sensor, and it is constantly monitoring a beam of invisible (to the human eye) infrared light. When that beam of light is broken or interrupted, the electronic circuit assumes that there's a hand under the unit and it dispenses soap.

The problem is that Lysol left out an important detail in the cleaning procedure. Not only does the sensor need to be clean (so it can detect the IR beam) but the source of that beam ALSO needs to be clean. So I imagine most of you are wondering, "Where is this invisible beam coming from?" The answer is, it's coming from that red circular area just below the red flashing LED. Behind that red lens is another LED that normally emits (like a flashlight) a constant beam of IR light. If you have a working unit on hand you can "prove" this to yourself by taking a business card or some other thin solid object and sliding it over the red piece, being careful, of course, to keep your hands away from the sensor/spout. The unit will dispense soap as if your hand was under the sensor, because you've interrupted the IR beam.

I suspect that one of a few things has happened to the "broken" units. Either the red "window" has become dirty itself (or worse, scratched/damaged) obstructing or redirecting the beam away from the sensor, or the IR emitter has actually stopped working. One other possibility is that soap has gotten into the black tube that houses the IR emitter and obstructed the beam from the inside.

Either way (assuming the IR emitter IS still working), your next step will be to make sure that area of the unit is also clean and unobstructed.

Good Luck! ;-)

I forgot to mention (for those people who have the unit dispensing soap when the lights are turned off), that the reason may be that the IR emitter is dirty or obstructed, but ANOTHER source of IR light is being detected by the unit (Perhaps coming from the bathroom light itself). When the light is turned off, the unit is sensing a loss of the IR beam, just like it would if the built in IR beam was interrupted by ones hands under the sensor/spout.

It would be interesting to see if those of you with this problem took the unit to another room with different lights and tried the same thing without the problem repeating itself. Either way, cleaning the IR emitter area should also resolve this problem (If the IR emitter IS still working).

Regards,

Steve

have cleaned the sensor but the right light still keeps blinking and dispensor does not work.

Morgan 13 days ago

My dispenser was putting out twice as much hand soap and then the light would start flashing. So I put hot water and vinegar in an empty refill dispenser container and just kept using the dispenser to clear out any clogs or obstructions. It now seems to work fine again.

My Dispenser was starting right from turning it on. And the red Light was flashing for 5 times and stopped. And also kept running on.I took the unit to bits and found that the Miniature Microswitch had come apart. The one that swithches with the Cam. I glued it back together with Epoxy Resin Glue. Works a treat, I think the part looks cheap and nasty.

Thanks Richard, that is a solid fix for a solid cause to some of the problems that many have complained about. For anyone interested in that approach, you would need to do the following:

1. Remove the batteries and soap refill.

2. Remove the screw from each of the 4 battery slots.

3. Pop out the refill liner while pushing the Eject button

4. Pull the two wires attached to the sensor on the arm; the plastic sensor will swivel out of the sensor cover

5. Detach the base from the body, the tubing will disconnect

6. Remove the remaining 3 screws from the bottom of the device

7. Tilt the gearbox out to expose the bottom

8. Remove 3 screws from the gearbox cover

The miniature microswitch is now accessible. It has 2 wires attached to it and it should be positioned flush against the oval-shaped cam. If any of those pieces are broken or misaligned, the device may dispense improperly as Richard noted.

This is a delicate procedure, do not attempt unless you know what you're doing and can get it all put back together. Beware of creating tension in the wiring unless you have a soldering gun to fix broken connections.

It had absolutely no effect on my problem(light blinking and dispenser not working).
